Ralph Robinson Imagery: Blog https://www.ralphrobinsonimagery.com/blog en-us (C) Ralph Robinson [email protected] (Ralph Robinson Imagery) Mon, 16 Mar 2020 07:10:00 GMT Mon, 16 Mar 2020 07:10:00 GMT https://www.ralphrobinsonimagery.com/img/s/v-12/u405194200-o796803338-50.jpg Ralph Robinson Imagery: Blog https://www.ralphrobinsonimagery.com/blog 86 120 First Visit to the Museum School https://www.ralphrobinsonimagery.com/blog/2017/8/first-visit-to-the-museum-school Yesterday was my first day on campus at SMFA.  Thomas Duncan, Assistant Director of Admissions, was kind enough to set aside some time for me to discuss the program I am about to begin, and share his thoughts and impressions with me.  It was a great way to start, as he is an alumnus and an artist himself.  He knows the program inside and out, and is extremely enthusiastic about the school and its ability to stimulate and nurture new artists.  I needed to hear that it might be possible to juggle school, work, and family, which he did himself.  I have no doubts that what I get out of the program will largely depend on what I put into it, and so I do not want to jeopardize that in any way.  What is shaping up will be an intensive and demanding course of study, both in the classroom and out, that is likely to consume most of my week, leaving little for my current employer.  I need to tell them soon where my priorities lie, and how much they can reasonably expect to see me at work.  It isn't going to be much!  An easy choice for me!

]]> [email protected] (Ralph Robinson Imagery) https://www.ralphrobinsonimagery.com/blog/2017/8/first-visit-to-the-museum-school Tue, 01 Aug 2017 19:51:49 GMT Admission to the Museum School https://www.ralphrobinsonimagery.com/blog/2017/7/admission-to-the-museum-school It arrived on my birthday:  A letter from the School at the Museum of Fine Arts informing me of their offer of admission to the post-baccalaureate program for Fall 2017!  What a wonderful gift!  Carol and I were two days away from beginning our Iceland adventure, so the timing could not have been better.  A thrill and a renewed sense of purpose and energy overcame me over the following days.  It carried over well into our vacation, as I shot over 3000 images in Iceland in two weeks.  The light and landscapes of Iceland are inspiring, and I did my best to capture a flavor of the country, which we circumnavigated on the ring road.  A trip of over 800 miles if you drive it straight, but for us it was closer to 1400 miles with the various side trips and mini-detours.  An early revelation - the gorgeous purples radiating from the fields of lupine are not a welcome sight for the locals, as they know that these plants are invasive, and threatening the native mosses which grow on the lava fields.  Sad!
